Restrictions On Use POLICIES: FILM RIGHTS If an event includes screening any copyrighted materials, renter must demonstrate that they have acquired the rights to screen them. Sidewalk can help to secure screening rights for a fee of 20% in addition to any screening fee that may be charged by the copyright owner. Content should be discussed as early as possible in the rental process to allow time to secure the rights. Please note that some films cannot be cleared with distributors, so second choice options are suggested. EXHIBITION AND FORMATS DCP, Blu-ray/DVD, ProRes/H264 (and other computer-based formats) Any film, video, or presentation provided by the renter should be delivered to Sidewalk at least 3 days prior to the event to allow time for testing and setup OUTSIDE FOOD/DRINK Outside catering will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Additional outside catering fee of $150 may apply, but will be reduced to $75 if using one of our preferred caterers. To learn how your restaurant/catering company can become a preferred vendor, email Outside alcohol is not permitted. TIPS trained Sidewalk bar staff will enforce all federal and state laws and regulations for the serving of alcohol in all cases, including private, invite-only events. MERCHANDISE Merchandise may be sold using the provided tables. Use of T-shirt grids is available upon request. Additional Sidewalk staff can be made available to run a merch table for $20/hr with a two hour minimum. DECOR Nothing may be attached to/hung from walls/floor/ceiling without advance approval. No candles/incense, confetti, silly string, glitter, or any other “messy” decoration is allowed. All decor set up should be removed/thrown away by the renter at the conclusion of the event TICKETING May be sold either by the renter or on the renter’s behalf through Sidewalk’s website. A ticketing fee of $2.00 per ticket will be charged by Sidewalk to ticket purchasers by default. Renter may choose to absorb these costs if they wish. Renter will be required to fill out a ticketing information form to provide info for ticket creation MARKETING/PUBLICITY FOR TICKETED EVENTS No marketing materials may be distributed for any event inside the Sidewalk Cinema space without prior approval from the Cinema Director or Marketing Director FOR PARTNERSHIPS Partnership status to be determined by Sidewalk staff on a case-by-case basis, based on the programming/content to be screened The event will be listed, along with renter/host, in all of Sidewalk’s online and print calendars of events, including periodic emails (“This week/month at Sidewalk Cinema”, etc), with the exclusion of Sidewalk’s social media, which is used only for Sidewalk’s own events A ticketing page will be set up on Sidewalk’s website with an event description and images provided by the renter. Renter will be asked to provide further details about how to set up ticketing. FOR PRIVATE EVENTS, WHETHER OR NOT TICKETS ARE TO BE SOLD Sidewalk may not be mentioned as a host/co-host/co-presenter. Sidewalk’s logo/graphic designs may not be used. Sidewalk Cinema should only be mentioned in invitations for purposes of location information. Sidewalk must approve any publicity materials referencing Sidewalk Cinema prior to publication/distribution. For ticketed Private Events, renter may sell tickets themselves or Sidewalk can provide a private ticket link for renter to use to sell tickets. In the latter case, an additional $.25 per ticket will be charged, either to the renter or to the ticket-buyer. SETTLEMENT For non-ticketed/free events, the remaining balance of estimated costs is due on the day of the event before the event has begun. Any unexpected expenses/fees will be invoiced after the event has ended. For ticketed events, the remaining actual balance will be settled upon conclusion of the event.

How To Book

Sidewalk strongly recommends securing a date at least one month in advance of the anticipated event date(s), as film programming often involves contractual agreements that cannot be canceled on short notice. We will, however, make our best effort to accommodate rental requests for any dates.

A date must be secured before an event is publicly announced. This requires a meeting and walk-through with a member of Sidewalk senior staff at which time the rental contract will be signed. A 50% deposit of all estimated fees, including labor, is due at signing.

Hours Of Operation Sidewalk Cinema facilities are available for rental Monday-Sunday between the hours of 7:00am and 1:00am.
Rental Policy All rates are hourly with a 3-hour minimum. Load-in and load-out times are included as part of the rental window. All guests/gear/belongings should be cleared out of the rented space by the end of the rental period. Any unrented rooms (screening rooms, classroom, bar/lounge) will remain open to the public during normal operating hours unless entire cinema is rented.
